Peter Arrenbrecht
open source – articles – email
Also known by friends as Peo, and parren on IRC and other online media. I live near Zurich in Switzerland. I’m a father of four, a self-taught computer programmer, a hobbyist boulderer and percussionist, and an old-school quad roller skater. You can reach me at this email.
Work
Since 2011 I’m a software developer at Google Switzerland, where I work on YouTube and Google Ads.
Before I worked as a freelancer under the name of codewise.ch, mainly for Abacus. And before that I was co-founder and tech lead of Opus Software, where I conceived the database application framework Atlas.
Open Source
I published a remote controller for the Hoval Ultrasource heat pump.
While freelancing, I contributed to open-source, including
- an efficient distributed protocol for determining missing commits in Mercurial, and
- the Abacus Formula Compiler, which extracts computation models from spreadsheets and compiles them directly to JVM byte code.
Literate Testing
I’ve been a public exponent of Literate Testing.
I spoke about it at Devoxx (photo, slides) and ESEConf (slides ).
I wrote a comprehensive article on citing sources, and
created the open-source tool JCite around it.
Articles
I wrote articles about
threaded chat,
command line UIs , and
other topics.
